Enjoy a super time at our Georgian Park Farm, with regular demonstrations from our living history characters in the Mill and Dairy, plus lots of animals to meet.
The farm also features a play park, numerous exhibits, and a children's interactive learning gallery.
About the Farm
Georgian dairymaid, scullery maid, miller and authentically dressed farm staff welcome you to the Farmstead, built by world famous architect Samuel Wyatt and celebrated across the country as the perfect country house farm.
Our maids will show you the very latest technology (early 19th century, of course!) in our dairy where butter and cheese is produced to feed the estate workers and to send to market.
The scents of freshly made warm bread drift from the scullery as the bailiff’s wife, Mrs Wheelock, busies herself baking delicious wholesome food.
About the Mill
William Bailey, our Georgian miller, will gladly show you his pride and joy – the only working water mill of its kind in the country.
The mill wheel is larger than a modern double decker bus and is powered by water from our idyllic mill pond. When the mill wheel starts up, the whole building shakes as wheels turn and mill stones grind to produce fine wholegrain flour.
There are interactive demonstrations with the miller to enjoy.
Farm Exhibits
Find out about Staffordshire's characteristic mixed agriculture of arable, dairy and sheep farming and cheese making. See rare breeds of livestock, a working water mill, a dairy and a fine Staffordshire wagon. Explore the reconstructed blacksmith's and wheelwright's shops.
Our collections include a wide range of farm machinery made by Bamford's of Uttoxeter, horse drawn carts and wagons, a 1940s Bedford horse van, classic 'Fergie' tractor, and a Clayton & Shuttleworth threshing box.
The Granary Tea Room
The Granary Tea room is also open Wednesday to Monday for refreshments and plenty of tables are available inside and outside.
The Granary Tea Room is now open 12-3pm (Wed-Mon, from 22 March - 1 November 2013) serving delicious paninis, special pies, soups and sandwiches, home made cakes and a variety of hot and cold beverages.
