EASTER HOLIDAY ACTIVITIES
Visitors can step into the past at the nation’s most complete working historic estate this Easter and throughout the school holidays

Shugborough, near Stafford, brings the upstairs downstairs existence of stately families and their servants to life as costumed characters work in the real historic environments of mansion house, farm, servants’ quarters and walled garden.

  • Over the actual Easter weekend visitors can help out with Easter baking, butter-making, and cheese-making and watch the special Easter ale being made in the Victorian brewhouse.
  • At the farm, spring lambing will be well under way and a host of new arrivals including real Easter bunnies and chicks will be waiting to greet visitors. In addition, the estate’s formal gardens offer one of the most breath-taking Easter walks each year as over a mile of riverside gardens are transformed into a carpet of yellow daffodils.
  • There will also be face painting on all four days and Easter trails and hunts through the house and servants’ quarters. The mansion house will also feature stunning displays of spring flowers throughout the state rooms..
  • On Easter Monday, visitors will be able to take part in Victorian children’s outdoor games and  enjoy a horse carriage ride along the parkland drive. Their will also be a brass band performing.
  • Shugborough also boasts a land train, play park, craft workshops, a gift shop and a licensed tearoom serving homemade food using locally sourced produce.
  • In addition to Easter weekend, a host of activities will be taking place at the estate across the entire Easter school holiday.
